Seeing the wood for the trees
It is important to use a good quality mountboad for your artwork and that is why we use Arqadia.
Arqadia / Larson-Juhl recognise the increased worldwide environmental concerns over wood sources and the Larson-Juhl holds PEFCTM (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) and FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) Chain of Custody certifications from BM TRADA Certification Ltd.
These schemes provide assurance mechanisms to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are purchasing wood produced in a sustainable way. Products carrying the FSC® or PEFCTM labels are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.
Chain of Custody certification is the unbroken path which products take from the forest to the consumer, including all stages of manufacturing, transportation and distribution.
This means we can offer you the added reassurance and peace of mind about the source of the timber used in our products.
All the boards are lignin-free.
Lignin is a brown organic substance that binds to cellulose fibres and hardens and strengthens the cell walls of plants. Lignin is the chief non-carbohydrate constituent of wood and is also a major contributor to the chemical degradation of paper.
Neutral pH buffered with calcium carbonate*, thus eliminating the issue of acids forming within the adhesive layers.
We stock all the main types of mountboard, white core, black core, conservation and a linen covered board which gives a great texture available in 7 neutral colours. There are over 100 colour variations to choose from.
We only use natural wood frames from manufacturers in Italy, Spain and Norfolk, UK.
Plain Woods are some of the most popular picture frames at present because of their versatility. A wide variety of finishes can be applied to give an almost infinite number of finishes.
